The Great Hippies

In the 1960s the hippies started and enjoyed music like what was performed at woodstock. Civil Rights activists also started doing things in that time. Not only that, but there was the war with Vietnam. Women's rights activists in that time were probably the most active they had been since 1920s when women fought to have the right to vote. I these things are all linked by the idea of protest. If a group of people is big enough and maybe strong enough, they can change the world around them. At least, they can change the laws that affect their lives. Many of the influential music artists from that time created protest music. The young people from the 1960s in America are known for being activists and counter-culture.
