My first impression
This is my first time to study aboard.
Even though it is just studying a language, I feel very excited and get
a little nervous because I am not confident my language skill. I feel like someone punches me at the stomach
when I have to speak, which make me cannot speak at all. I am also confused when somebody talks to me
because I do not get used to it and the way he talks is very much different
from the way I talk in my country.
However, my friends and teachers here are so kind and friendly, which
make me feel relax. I am very impressed
this university and people here. Thank
you my friends, my teachers and New Orleans, you make my first experience in
the U.S. very exceptional.

Gorn, I'm glad you are here! You describe very graphically the discomfort of trying to speak in another language in an unfamiliar situation - like a punch in the stomach. I'm glad that you are becoming more comfortable, and I hope that you will enjoy communicating in English! - Ms. Greenstone
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've been here for two years, sometimes I'm embrassed when a worker ask me unexpected question in a glocery store or restuarant. Now I know how to handle it. "Smile, and ask again"
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to be one of the students in this amazing program. I am sure we will all improve our English language and we are all here to help each other to reach our goal.
ReplyDeleteI agree, speaking english sometimes make me nervous too, but you are right the professors and the people at Loyola are very helpful and I think the people in New Orleans are really friendly.
